Does anyone have details on this model?
Is this going to be a US release?

I don't know anything about Pioneer's plans. However, if Pioneer plans to continue selling DVD recorders in the U.S. they soon will have to be equipped with ATSC tuners.

Pioneer Customer Service (800-746-6337) advises the Pio 645 is an European model, and there are no plans to release it in the US.
The Pio csr also advised they are not aware of any new Pio DVR models destined for the US Market.
The Pio csr reminded me ...
Mfrs cannot sell DVRs with *analog tuners* to their US distributors after March, 2007.
And this includes the Pio 640.
Three related questions.....
1. don't we have approx 2 years (Feb, 2009) before analog TV broadcasts will end in the US?
2. will we need to buy digital converter boxes for every DVR we own today?
3. is this the end of timer recordings (involving 2 or more channels)?

So, if it is the new one, the only one, and you can get it like they say then where are they all? I mean, the Pioneer website took it down from being sold that should say something.
Also, when I talked to them they had no clue about digital tuners and the unit not being sold because of that. They said that they know nothing about that and it's still being sold. Yeah, right!
Also, as a side note, I talked to vendors who where selling the Pioneer and they all told me that the unit is discontinued and not being reordered or that they are out and Pioneer will not tell them when or if any more is going to be shipped to them. -
Pio cust serv (800-421-1404) suggested I contact Pioneer Canada (800-850-1703) regarding a replacement for the Pio DVR640H. That 800 # does not work. Another dead end.
