Geez, the academy can't even get their info correct. They gave a Oscar award to the movie, "The Departed" then they said the movie was adapted by the Japanese movie called, "INFERNAL AFFAIRS"! WTF! The movie was not from Japan but from Hong Kong, it's from the Chinese movie called, "THE INFERNAL AFFAIRS". Bollywood needs to get their info correct!!!

I thought I was the only one that noticed that. I was told to calm down when I jumped up after the announcer said that.

Well, at least Scorsese thanked Andy Lau in his speech. What makes me sick is all the people talking about how this movie was based on the true Boston story of that guy Bulger. No its not. Its a complete rip-off (I'm sorry, "remake") of Infernal Affairs. It might have elements of the Bulger story in it but the vast majority of the movie (and the whole plot itself) is the same as Infernal Affairs. Except fot the ending. Someone told me the ending and I nearly lost my mind. Why does every Hollywood movie have to have a happy ending?
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

Conquest10 I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who caught the announcer giving the wrong information.

I haven't had time to watch "The Departed" yet. I did enjoy the "The Infernal Affairs" trilogy which was awesome.

I haven't seen Scorsese thank Andy Lau yet. I'm on Hawaiian time.....delayed taping from Bollywood!!!

Just watched it this weekend... Overall, it was a good story but a little drawn out - could have easily been a half hour shorter.

There were a few poorly introduced characters near the end, IMO, typical American sensationalizing...

Good question and I've often wondered that myself.... kind of makes everthing predicatable doesn't it? Be nice if they threw a few bad endings in once in while to keep the suspense up ,kinda sux when you already know how it ends.

One of the worst victims of this was The Vanishing. Hollywood even managed to the get the writer/director of the original to come over and butcher his own material.

As for the Japanese/Hong Kong screw up - are you really surprised ? The only time Hollywood looks outside it's own backyard is when it runs short of sequels and needs a new story. The should add a new tag line under the Hollywood sign "The most creatively bereft place on earth"

Yep, it's very similiar to the original but it's a VERY good rip-off and I have to say that I like Scorseses version better than the original.

But Little Miss Sunshine should have won the Oscar for best film! Or maybe babel or iwo jima...haven't seen those yet....

One movie that didnt have a happy ending was "Arlington Road" with Tim Robbins and Beau or Jeff Bridges. Not a bad movie in and of itself but the ending total threw me off.

Seven also comes to mind. That wasnt exactly a happy ending.

Any movie with Jennifer Lopez where she doesn't die in the end... (Or Julia Roberts... Or Meryl Streep...)

    These are not happy endings.
