  1. I am trying to connect my laptop to TV by using a s-video cable. But there is no s-video port in my TV so I connect the s-video calbe to an amplifier and use RCA cable between amplifier and TV.
Then in the Display setting of laptop, I select "TV" then restart the laptop. But I got black screen on TV. Could someone help????

I use a cable with RCA plug at one end and S-Video at the other. It came free with my video card.

This one says "web only", but I've seen one in the store.

Just to add, if you get a 'black screen' only when playing a movie, then that's likely a overlay problem and can usually be corrected with the video card settings.

But if you are not seeing the computer 'desktop' at all, then that's a connection problem.

    And welcome to our forums.

  5. Thanks.
My point is: the signal come out from PC is digital, but my TV can ONLY receive analog signal. How can I convert the digital signal to analog?

S-video is analog. So is VGA.

Whatever your problem is no A/D conversion is not it.

scorpio54, does it display your laptop screen on the TV? If so, and your video doesn't appear, then maybe an overlay problem.

A couple of things to try: Go to your video settings in 'Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced>Troubleshoot'. Lower the 'Hardware Acceleration' down to about 1/3 and try it. If it works there, it's likely overlay. Different video cards have different settings for that. Consult your manual.

You might also try VLC Media Player. You can turn off and on the overlay settings with it.

    And welcome to our forums.

Go to the graphic's cards setup applet and enable "theater mode" (that's ATI's nomencalture, I don't know what nVidia calls it). That will cause whatever you play in a media player to play full screen on the TV output, even if the media player is running in a small window on the desktop.
