Hi. I have a _NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A burner. It's max speed is 8x. I'm trying to burn dvd's using 16x dvd discs but my burner rejects them everytime I put them in. So I need to upgrade my firmware so my burner can use 16x dvd's but I don't know how. Can someone help? I'm afraid of damaging my burner if I don't do it right.

All of the information that you need is on the NEC website, which is where you should be getting the firmware. There are typically two ways. The old boot disk method and the update from within Windows method. The last few upgrades for me were from within Windows.

MediaCodeSpeedEdit will show you what media codes in your firmware are set to burn at a given speed, it will also let you experiment (at your own risk to the media) by letting you set a media code to burn faster than rated.
