    Hi,

I have a DVD I created and have lost the original avi somewhere.

I need to take a little of that footage for a new avi I am editing.

What is the best way to get it from a DVD and keep the resolution as high as I can.

    Thanks

    oz

all you can do is copy it to your box the way it is, an mpeg2, and go from there
or maybe cap as an dv-avi since you're editing

With discs costing a quarter each, I cannot overstress the importance of backing everything up as DV-AVI

    Hi ozstar100,

Assuming you want to get this as DV AVI...

    * Rip the VOBs from your DVD to your PC.

    * Open the VOB containing the desired snippet of footage with VirtualDubMod.

    * Set the In and Out points in VirtualDubMod to represent the desired snippet.

    * If you haven't got it already, download and install the Panasonic DV Codec.

    * Click Video -> Full Processing Mode.

    * Click Video -> Filters and select the Panasonic DV Codec.

    * Click File -> Save as AVI... and away you go.
