What freeware program can successfully convert .nsv files to another file format like say .avi?

Try latest SUPER and set it to use the mencoder.

And PLEASE search, try search for nsv for several useful tips.

I don't think Super works cause I have tried it also I have issues with Super especially the latest version so I uninstalled it. I tried Mediacoder but have not had successful output. Also, there is mikkonsv but I got no audio out of that because mencoder is not recognizing the audio codec aac/aac+.

Here is a freeware program that can for me at least successfully convert a .nsv file to .avi.

If the video doesn't sync with audio properly, check the force no skipping frames option and that should fix the problem.

alltoavi is also an mencoder GUI though. mencoder should recognise aac/aac+ fine if it was compiled with faad enabled. It also has internal support (via libavcodec) for VP3, 5 & 6.
