Hi, I replaced my Gigabyte ATI 9200 with Sapphire X1300XT. Played some DVD movies with Cyberlink Power DVD and noticed a problem: When I switched on the hardware acceleration option, in the picture emerged strange traces and hallows. They are more noticeable in the darker scenes in PAL movies. When I switch off the hardware acceleration, there is no problem. The problem is however, that I don’t like software mode. With my old ATI, I never had this problem. Any suggestions? May be there is a problem with AVIVO or something?![]()

Did you download the updated vga driver's for the new card ... don't use those from the supplied cd ... there always stuffed .
Of course you uninstalled the original driver's , then shut down the pc and swapped the old card out and installed the new one ... followed up by installing the new driver's (downloaded) , and system reboot ... yes
Switching on/off hardware acceleration will eventually cause problem's ... should only be done for trouble shooting purpose's .
==================
My geforce came with sli driver's ... which kept complaining secondary vga card not detected ... turning this feature off ... now that was a pain in the a*** seeing it everytime the pc was started .
Found the dev driver's , installed ... popup fixed , but system became unstable ... decided on forceware package from nvidia created nov / 2006 ... so far all seem's well .
Turned out the driver's supplied where only for the development cards not released to the general public ... idiot's .

So first thing is to download the proper driver's for the card , and try again after the reboot . -
I uninstalled old drivers in safe mode, cleaned the registry, downloaded newest drivers from ATI – same problem.
Then tested with Omega drivers – same. I really think that this is hardware problem with AVIVO, even think, that this is common problem with AVIVO, not with my card only. In the first sight, one could say that the picture is better with AVIVO. I made little MPEG-2 file (2,5MB) in PAL format, where is easier to see this traces like on the older LCD monitor. If someone with ATI and AVIVO would be interested to play, I can send this file to test it.
Tested with HQV dvd test everything looks perfect (on the first sight!!!)

Try Driver Cleaner Pro Free or if you want the latest version it's $9.95 Driver Cleaner .Net. This is a great utility because it removes all traces of the ATI drivers (they can get very integrated into the OS), just follow the instructions carefully. I have used this before because of ATI update issues (expected with ATI
) and worked great.
