Hi guys I have a question, I'm not sure which forum section this question would go into but I would like to know if it was possible to add a copy protection to a Home DVD movie I make? For example if I make a wedding DVD Movie to add protection to it where if I give certain people a copy they cant go ahead and simply just copy the movie is this even possible?

Not trying to be a smart-ass here, but if the MPAA can't even get copy protection right, what makes you think that you can?

If you make it someone will copy it, plain and simple. If CSS Encryption on a pressed disc can be circumvented...I'm certain there is no way for a person burning their product to protect it.

I would suspect not gouging people with outrageous prices to make DVDs of their wedding would be a more equitable solution than wasting your money on something as easily defeated as copy protection.

Is this the new "Question of the Week"? The "I downloaded Return of the King/The Passion/Hellboy" question must have gotten burnt out
Oh wait, there was that run of "How do I get/convert Quicktime trailer from the 'net" that popped up every 15 minutes -
Pfft, all the real money is in honeymoon dvds. I thought you guys knew that by now.

The old argument rings true - if movie companies can spend millions each year and can't do it, what makes you think you can ?If in doubt, Google it. -
I've been quiet for years...VCDs can be protected by using hex editors...it makes CDs unreadable on your cd/dvd drive...now with DVD I've been searching for the hex that makes it unreadable on your drive...this is kinda difficult you need RWs and a player that can read RWs...so if you want to protect your dvd start learning hex/asm codes. btw Fire Burner should support DVD coz this software can work together with my method. I left this project on idle now can someone help me?

I posted this in the other thread as well...
Kamui - if you think you can make a disc that can play in ALL set-top boxes but NOT in any of my DVD/CD-ROM drives, please try to do so. I will give you a buttload of money if you can pull it off...
But I think you're high on "the junk".

As a side-note it is now approximately 4 months after the fact. Not only have I not received any discs from Kamui to test, but he hasn't posted here either. Hmm...
