    Hi,

My company are urgently trying to get a VCD sent out but we are having problems whereby a certain chapter loops on certain DVD players.

The chapters were made as seperate MPEG 1 files and then converted to VCD using AVI/MPEG CD Maker.

On the DVD player we have on site the DVD works correctly, however two of our clients have complained that one of the chapters gets to the end and then loops backwards.

Any help anyone could give would be much appreciated.

Not familiar with "AVI/MPEG CD Maker", but have you tried VCDEasy?

This one works well Thanks. The only problem now is that we need to burn a seperate file onto the vcd once it has been burned. Is this possible with this method?

AVI/MPEG CD Maker did not close the disk after burning the VCD and allowed us to add this extra file

You can add additional (non VCD) files with VCDEasy too before you start burning. It's on the ISO Files pane. Just add the additional files to the root of the CD, or create a data folder. Should work as long as you leave the VCD structure alone.

You are an absolute legend. Many thanks for your help here Mats.

There is just one issue, I added the seperate files but when I try to open the cd in my computer it won't let me open it.

I double click the CD rom drive and it asks me what program I want to open it with.

I am using the old freeware version of VCDEasy. Is there something in the newer version that will solve this?

Once again, many thanks for your you help.

What if you right click and select Explore instead of double clicking?
Can you open it from the DOS prompt?

Don't think newer versions of VCDEasy are improved in this area, even if I've never used anything but the freeware version.
I'd imagine it's a rarely used feature, even if it's handy for both VCD and DVD, once you start using it.
Can you open any VCD with your computer? I've experienced the same with some VCD, probably Windows has problems with VCD as most of a VCD isn't ISO. Or maybe sees it's a VCD, but has no VCD player software registered?

Can't thank you enough Mats, this is all working now. You have really saved us here.

Only one very minor issue now is that when you add the additional files it changes the file's name.

    For example final_flash.exe becomes FINAL__1.EXE

Is there any way to resolve this? If not it's not a huge problem.

    Thanks again for your help

VCDEasy is adhering strictly to the ISO specs, which doesn't seem to allow for more than 8.3 filenames.
I have no simple solution to this, I'm afraid. To have longer (Windows) file names, you need the Joliet extension to the ISO part of the VCD, and I'm not sure if it's possible, while keep it working as VCD. This is something that may have improved i later (commercial) versions of VCDEasy.

    Yes,
later versions (paid, but worth it) do allow for ISO Level2 filenaming (~equivalent to Joliet, while Level1 ~ DOS8.3).
You could also build the XML with VCDEasy, and then modify it by hand (aka text editor) and burn using VCDImagerGUI which utilizes the lkvcdimager fork which also supports level2.

Other than that (and poss. using Nero/WinOnCD/Vpack), you won't be able to do level2 long file naming.
