The HD-DVD has been cracked, and high definition content is now being distributed freely over xxxx. We all knew this would happen sooner or later, looks it was “sooner”. The first HD-DVD to be uploaded is Serenity, the Firefly movie.

It hasn’t even been a month since the HD-DVD ripper, BackupHDDVD was released and we’re already seeing high definition feature films pop up on xxxx sites. Other than Serenity, it is rumoured that HD-DVDs of the movies 12 Monkeys and King Kong have been decrypted and consequently shown up on xxxx sites. Yesterday (1/14/07), a handful of hackers figured out how to extract the unique volume key from HD-DVDs.

According to HDTV Blogger, the xxxx is “a 19.6GB file in native EVO format that should play on PowerDVD and WinDVD with HD DVD playback.”

Well see if that's actual true ... about firefly ... it could be a load of bs for that title .

But just reading some of the other part's included ... there've gone completely mad now ... psycho ... riaa involvement with seti project ... now wanting to sue alien's for ripping and possible piracy of music ... talk about taking the complete p*** too a whole new level .

Next they'll be charging you just to breath ... or scratch yourself .

  3. It's true. I was skeptical at first about the claims of being able to backup HD-DVD, but it's true. muslix64 as well as others on the net have found a way to bypass the AACS DRM. The keys are left unencrypted in memory. So with the keys you can decrypt the files to the hard drive removing the content restrictions.

There's been talk at Doom9 about figuring out what the keys were. The story over there is that while King Kong will decrypt, nobody seems able to get it to play correctly after ripping it and there's some discussion as to why that it is true. There's a list in the Decryption section of the Forums at Doom9 of which titles have been ripped and won't play correctly after ripping. Six have been identified so far, including King Kong.
