Hi Guys, I own a DSE G 1926, which is a Dick Smith Electronics brand, but probably something else rebranded. It is a DVD Recorder with 120g hard disk. It is region 4 and i desperately need to know how to unlock it so it will play region 1. I have very little computer knowledge and any help would be appreciated.
I have searched everywhere but cant find the real manufacturer, only G 1926.
Hoping for some help, Cheers from Downunder.

1. Open the tray of recorder.
2. Switch recorder to DV in (or AV ?) input mode using the "source" button.
3. Using remote control, press 7, 7, 0 buttons in order. (Nothing changes or appears on the screen)
4. Region Free will appear on the bottom of the screen
Isn't Google marvelous?? -
You are a genious, thank you soooo much we did it and it works awesome.
Can i impose a bit more and enquire if you know exactly what brand it is, im assuming its a rebranded item. Just out of interest and in case i ever need to get it repaired or something.
Thanks once again........ -
I meant to say...ive googeled for hours and couldnt find it, searched anywhere i could think of.....searched G1926, dse, recorder, etc, all to know avail.

Thanks again. -
Well, I just Googled "DSE G1926" as two words and the first address comes up as http://phorums.com.au/archive/index.php/t-124094.html
Check the last entry - that should answer your questions! -

Picture quality is very good, when taping on super long play the quality isnt that great, but thats the payoff for recording 150 hrs or so. I must say that i am happy and would recommend the machine, although it is the only DVD RECORDER i have owned and as such, i cant compare to any others. Cheers....

It's on the website www.dse.com.au - they seem to have the unlocking codes for all their players and recorders on each product page.
Sounds like it's a steal for AU$198 then.Read my blog here.
