I have a Yamaha DVD S-510, which is based on the Philips 711 technology.
I had the same FF/REW problem and fixed it by switching away from using Nero. I now use VCDImager_GUI to create a BIN/CUE then use CDRWin or Firebuner to Burn the BIN/CUE to the correct format on a CD.
Worth a try! -
first check the bios number, if you go under the setup pulldown menu to the bottom selection then scroll down the submenu there to the very bottom highlight PBC, then go down one more (even though there isn't anything to highlight) the version number will appear. If its anything less then 7.22 go here:

the other thing is if you are using an older version of nero then you'll need to put the scandat.dat in with your svcd before burning. check out this:

step 4, explains and provides a link to the file.
have a good one.
