    Hi,

I am having a terrible time backing up a children's DVD that I am hoping some experts can help me out with. I have been backing up DVD's for 2 years now, and have never run into a DVD so frustrating to backup.

I have tried DVD SHRINK, and it fails (running latest copy of Any DVD in background)
I have tried DVD FAB Decryptor (latest version) and it fails half way through, decrypting
I have tried Ripit4me, (latest versions of both Ripit4me and FixVTS) and it fails half way through DVD Decryptor stage. I cannot even get to the Fixvts stage?

I am using all of the latest versions but cannot seem to Backup this DVD???

I am using Windows XP sp2
    LG DVD ROM (brand new)
    LG burner (6 months old)
    P$ 2.3 ghz with 400gb HD
    512 +256 ram

I have attached a MS paint file with the message errors I am getting from all 3 programs....As said earlier, I have been backing up my kids DVD's for 2 years and have never run into this type of protection before....I would be most grateful if the experts in here could help out!

    Regards
    Wshrig

    wshrig,

The error message displayed by DvdDecrypter means that the drive can't read a sector on the original disk. It might be caused by a dirty or scratched disk. It could also be caused by copy protection, but only if AnyDvd is running in the background while using RipIt4Me, which would prevent RipIt4Me from creating a proper PSL2 file to feed to DvdDecrypter.

If the bottom of the disk is squeaky clean, you can't find a scratch about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way from the inner hub to the outer edge, and you are disabling AnyDVD before using RipIt4Me, it would be helpful if you would post the RipIt4Me and DvdDecrypter logs to (hopefully) see what the problem is.

I see this was your first post here, so welcome to VideoHelp.

    t3t4meat,

DvdShrink comes from a kinder, gentler time when dvds weren't intentionally messed up internally to prevent backing them up. As a result, it can't handle much deviation from the dvd standard. If you're having a problem with DvdShrink, try using RipIt4Me to rip newer disks before using DvdShrink.

Actually, I have a friend who had this same problem with Disney DVDs. He solved it with a program called DVD43 running in the background when he did the rip. AnyDVD will also work.

I am in the process of Backing up a collection of Baby Einstein DVD's. I am using the suggestion from another thread and using RipIt4Me along with DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. I am on my 4th DVD with no errors. I do not have any other DVD software installed on my machine. I used the RipIt4Meinstaller.exe with FixVTS included.
