    Hi,

I have a DVD backup with audio synch problem. The first 20 minutes of the movie the audio and video run in synch but after that the audio abruptly lacks far behind the video. It runs behind till the end of the movie without any progression.

I can adjust the second part but then the first 20 minutes the audio is not in synch. I believe one of the two parts have to be cut off and adjusted and then both parts to be joined back.

Is there any guide how to do this? Can this be done with Goldwave?

    Thank you!

I've done it with Xvids and VirtualDub Mod, but a MPEG would be a little harder. As it is, this takes a lot of time and I usually just end up tossing the video instead of trying to deal with it. The most common cause of this is a bad join or sometimes a lot of missing frames.

Basically, you already have it figured out. You need to split the movie into parts and adjust the sync on each part individually, then put it all back together. Since it is a DVD, I would use VOB2MPG and save it out as one large MPEG. Cut it just before the sync problem, then mux out the audio and adjust the sync.

I use VDMod and add an offset, depending on the audio format, then save out the audio as a WAV and convert that back to a DVD format like AC3 with ffmpeggui. Once you get the audio sync fixed, just use an authoring program like TMPGEnc DVD Author and add all the parts back together and reauthor to DVD. I don't use Goldwave, but I believe it can add a offset also. The problem usually is 'how much offset, negative or positive?

Thank you. Everything is more or less clear. What is scaring me, it is to join the parts together. As far as I know I will have to remove "extra chapter points" for smooth playback but I could not figure out how to do this and how the damn "extra" points looks like in TDA.
