This thread is useless without knowing what you expected them to be. Did you think they would be Taiyo Yuden, Ritek....what?

Looks to me that you got what you ordered genuine Hyundai DVD-R.

If the media code is effective to allow you to burn these what is the problem? if it isn't are you certain it isn't your drive?

Some drives burn any media reliably, some drives don't.

There's a LOT of rebranded stuff out there. If it burns and plays OK, and it isn't Princo, which it isn't, there should be no problem

Many makers use fake media codes.

Er... guys, wouldn't the fact that these discs appear to indicate their capacity as 31.62 Gigabytes indicate that something's not quite right about them?

There is also a big difference with respect to whose name is on the brand. For example, Mitsubishi buys some of their media on an OEM basis from Prodisc. I strongly suspect that the QC and acceptance standards are much more stringent when Mitsubishi buys as compared to the regular stuff that rolls off Prodisc's production line. I have stopped buying Prodisc because of huge differences from lot to lot. Some is very good and some is horrible. I just stick with Taiyo Yuden now. Why fiddle around?

    I missed that.

Yeah, provided they're smaller than a sewer cover

I agree with that statement - especially when referencing 16x media specifically.

Hyundai disks with MCC media codes are not manufactured by MCC, MKM or even CMC-Prodisc or MBI. They are most likely fakes of Infosmart origin. You can verify this by looking at the serial number. A fake serial would be something along the lines of:

    DVD-R M803 - IFPI 5342

Valid MCC serials vary based on the source (CMC-Prodisc-MBI) but are nothing like the one mentioned above. Hopefully someone with better eyes can provide some examples.
