If they are video files, change the extension to .mpg and you should be able to play them with MPC or most other MPG players. But they may also be some form of data files.

VCDs use .dat files for video. VLC Media Player is good for odd formats and plays most any video format with it's own codecs, so nothing extra to install. It will also play ISO or BIN files.

A "dat" file could be anything.

You need to work out what kind of file it is and then change the extension to match. Then clicking on it will start the correct player.

Try GSpot to analyse the file.

If it tells you it's an AVI file, give it .avi extension; if Windows Media, .wmv, etc.

  4. Thank for reply, another way, i have this link:

    mms://www.e-learning.edu.vn/C11501#0;1.000;0;0;1:2;2:2

Any one please let's me how to convert it to another extension, you know, this is movie about my teacher.
When you open this link, your player will play a movie, and your Temporary Internet Files will have a .dat file, i think that is source of this movie.

That's probably some type of streaming video. It may not be saved on the computer, but there are some programs that may capture it, as long as it's not a DRM protected file: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=39#39

The site says to play it with WMP 10. Try changing the extension to .wmp and opening it with WMP.

FINE, EVERYONE SAYS, VLC DOES PLAY ALL FILES U THROW AT IT.

TRY IT. BUT MY CHOICE IS

    MPlayer for Windows

    MPUI version:
    1.1.10 build 33
    MPlayer core version:
    1.0pre8-3.4.2

THIS IS WHAT I USE. THROW EVERYTHIN AT THIS ONE n IT WILL DANCE............................ BEST OF THE BEST. NO CODECS NEEDED. ONLY DOESNT PLAY REAL MEDIA - ONLY THAT n FOR IT, USE REAL ALT.
