  1. I have a pinncale PCTV tuner and Pinnacle studio 9.1. I am not able to capture audio while transferring video from my camcorder. I am able to get the audio in the play mode, but after capturing, while I am trying to edit the video file (MPEG2 format - DVD compatiable), I don't get to hear the audio. Can someone help me with this issue. I wld appreciate your support. Thanks in advance.

Please write to me @ m2badri@gmail.com, if you would need any additional details. I am having this problem for quite sometime and need assistance badly. Thanks

Are you sure the audio is missing? Drop the file into Gspot 2.60 and see what it says.

If Pinnacle is the problem, and you really have no audio, try transferring with WinDV and use Pinnacle to convert. If you are ending up with MPEG-2, then most likely, Pinnacle is doing a conversion from the native DV from the camcorder. See what audio format it is converting to. If it's AC3, you may be missing that codec.

I assume you are doing the camcorder>computer transfer via FireWire?

In general, it's best to transfer DV directly and do your conversions afterwards.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. Thanks very much for your comments. I am using Pinnacle PCTV Vision (tuner) for capturing the video into Studio v9.1 and not the DV (Fire ware option) as you had mentioned.

With this background, could you suggest what could be the issue and resolution?. Thanks again for your suggestion. Have a pleasant day ahead.. BADRI

  4. Dear redwudz,

I am using the Analog Capture mode, as my DV port in the camcorder is non-functional. I am not getting the sound while I play the camcorder and connect it to the Pinnacle PCTV tuner ports. This is how I have connected the devices.

I use the Audio video card from the camcorder (1 jack for video and 2 jacks for audio)
Video jack is plugged into the pinnnalce tv tuner composite jack
Audio jack is plugged to the pinnacle tv tuner audio jack (though there is only one jack, I have bought an adopter to mix both Right / Left into one audio jack, which is fed into the Pinnacle PCTV card)

Infact, I have tried the other options as well by trying to connect the audio jack to the Realteck HD audio (PC sound card)

Nothing seems to work for me.

I have tried all the format, AVI, MPEG etc., but no luck so far.

Your help would be appreciated, as I am struck with this problem for long. Thanks.

    Badri

I am not clear, if I am missing any audio codecs.
