Ok, it's only 2 DVR's, but that's one too many for my remotes.![]()
I hope there is a simple solution to this one. I now have 2 Pioneer DVR's, a DVR-233-S and a DVR-540H-S and they are sitting side by side. The problem is each remote works on either DVR. So I had turned the 233 off and I was editing DVR titles in the 540H model. Well that's when I noticed the 233 had turned itself on (I didn't hit the power so it came alive by itself). When I switched the TV over to the 233 I noticed the on screen menu was up and was now in Spanish.![]()
Apart from unplugging the unit I don't want to access, is there any way to de-activate the other DVR? I don't want it responding to commands from the other remote. Is there a switch somewhere to say "Remote#1" works with the 233 and "Remote#2" works with the 540H?
TIA
Brent

Yeah, the same thought occurred to me. I wonder how people handle it if they are bed ridden or can't get up to uncover the IR port every time they wanted to switch to a different machine? Sort of makes the remote kind of useless if you have to get up to the machine to activate it, eh?
My old Mistubishi VCR (long since gone to video heaven) had a switch on the remote so you could tell it it was remote #1 or #2, and set each VCR up to respond only to that remote. My how things have "progressed" in 15 years.
Oh well, time to get out the old cardboard and sissors.

I'd look in your owners manuals and see if there is something in the player menu or even the remote to set a second IR code. I have this with my two Sony DVD players that are identical.
But taping over the IR sensor as mentioned should work for now. You could also use 2 pieces of cardboard or similar, one for each unit, hinged with tape, so it would be easy to flip the cardboard up and still use the remote on one while you blocked out the other.
