My wife brought home a commercial copy of a movie on Sony DVD. This loads in the JVC, but when I press play, the whole thing just hangs. None of the control buttons operate, no track or title numbers show on the player, and the only thing I can do is eject it with the open/close button. The same DVD does play on a regular JVC DVD player.

So what is the problem with the DR-MV1S (among the many others already documented!). What can I do to make it play the DVD?
