I'm calling it official: VirtualDub bites my arse!!

What is it with this proggy?? I've used every combination of codecs, have direct x8a, updated my graphic drivers and everything i've seen in the forums and on the help section and all this thing does is give me trouble.
For instance: If I choose certain settings after clicking on "capture AVI", it crashes, It either goes to a blank screen with some green squglles on the top of the screen,
auto reboots the computer, or goes in to a black screen with "windows protection error, press anykey to continue"
I am running a AMD k6 533 mz, 320 ram, ATI TV wonder VE, 98se...
Any one have any ideas...
Now I cant undo the setting even if I delete VD and reinstall, it crashes, over and over...

I am by no way an expert, but I was told you need a WDM wrapper to use virtualdub with ATI Wonder VE. I hve one and tried but all I got was a message it couldn't find a video driver. No crashes or anything. Sorry I couldnt be of more help. I can't keep my captures video making noise through my speakers in playback.
