    whats the function of divx EKG....i cant seem to find any guides (even on the divx site)

    does anyone know how to use it ?

    EKG was more prominent in earlier years when every little bit counted.

    EKG allows you, during multipass, to optimize bitrate allocation to specific parts of the video. For example, if there was a dark screen such as credits, etc. it would use less bitrate during that point and alocate more of these bits to other parts instead, making the final production higher in quality.

    It's not as big a deal today with larger storage devices since those extra bits aren't as important any longer. Today most would just encode at a a higher bitrate instead.
