I wanted to convert DVD to exact duplicate on DVD-R.
I followed the instructions contained in the tutorial named DVD2ONE.pdf which I downloaded from this forum.
I used Mactheripper to go from DVD to my disk, ripping entire DVD as is, leaving links. I used the Mactheripper pdf tutorial for guidance.
I used DVD2oneX2 (using trial version just downloaded) to compress files from Mactheripper, no changes, as is.
I used Toast 7 (just purchased) to create DVD-R (actually using DVD+R.)
What I ended up with was a compressed version of files identical to Mactheripper files: got the video_TS folder with series of .bup, .ifo, and .vob files. They played OK from the new DVD+R if I used DivX, for example. But what I wanted was a copy of the original DVD that I could read with my DVD player. My DVD player doesn't recognize the files that got burned to new DVD. So where did I go wrong?
The DVD2ONE.pdf is a little outdated, true, but I sustituted Mactheripper for DVDBackup 1.3 and the new Toast for the one described.
Instructions for burning with Toast were to use "data" tab, not "video." I used "data" tab, but I don't think that is the issue.

Yes, I did select the CVD-ROM? I must have done something else wrong.
So I just tried burning a DVD again, using your suggestions, using the video tab and selecting DVD-Video from VIDEO_TS, and dragging only the VIDEO_TS folder onto Toast.
Worked great!! Thank you.

Perhaps you might have some insight on something I noticed. The top edge of the video screen is dramatically uneven in the newly burnt DVD, uneven like pixels at the edge of an object in Photoshop, say. Only they dance along the edge as the movie plays and is quite distracting. I think it has something to do with ripping the original DVD, because I noticed it on a smaller scale (screen smaller) when viewing the .vob files after ripping. Do you have any comments on this?

Your Mac doesn't overscan (like you TV will) so you see all the way out to the very edges of the movie. Once you play it on your TV (which overscans), you won't see that area.
