Betamax to DVD - what do I need to do?

I have a lot of home movies on betamax and I had them professionally transferred to DVD but I am unhappy with the results. I still own a BetaMax player/recorder and would like to use it to do the transfer and editing myself. What else do I need to have in order to make DVDS of my beta home movies?

I have a laptop with a DVD burner but I don't imagine i can connect my beta to my laptop. Will I need to buy a DVD recorder and do the editing through the TV? I'm completely new at this, but I do have some technical know-how. I'm confident I can do it myself as soon as I figure out how to get a recorder that can "talk" to my Beta. Thanks for your help.

Better to use a standalone DVD recorder. Experiment with speeds.

You should know that commercial Betamax recordings may have analog copy protection that may inhibit all dubbing.

If these are recordings that you made, they should copy fine to a good recorder.
