Which one do I need to do this....?

Hello! I am new here and this si my first post. I hope it is a good one.

Well, I don't own a DVD Recorder, but I want to obtain one. I want a DVD Recorder and VCR combo one.

I was told by a friend that there is a dvd recorder/vcr combo that you could put in a vcr tape and convert or transfer it over to a DVD. In other words, convert a VHS tape to a DVD.
The reason I need this is because I have a camcorder that records onto mini tapes. The camcorder came with a VHS adapter so I could play my tapes in a VCR. Well, I want to be able to put my tapes onto DVD's.

I want to buy from www.NewEgg.com since I have purchased computer parts from them before, as I already have an account with them. But if there is a "better" place where it may be cheaper, then please let me know.

I don't recommend getting an all-in-one combo. They usually cut corners in quality. A lot of people think they can copy VHS movies etc. onto the DVD because its an all-in-one unit and of course this isn't possible because of copy protection. If your VHS player fails, then you also will have to send in your DVD record as well.

I would recommend getting a good quality DVD recorder and player and hook them up using either SVideo connector, or AV jacks. Record in SP mode (2hours) if you want reasonably good quality recordings. There are many threads on this forum in deciding which DVD recorder is best for recording off of VHS tapes (probably JVC?).

If you need to clean up the video signal from your VHS player, then you could spend some money on a TBC (Time Based Corrector). These cost anywhere from under $100 to $1000, depending on how serious you are about the quality of the final DVD recording.

Some DVD recorders have firewire ports in case you need to connect to a computer.

Where ever you purchase the DVD recorder, make sure you can return it within 30 days for a refund because not all recorders work welll when copying from VHS.
