I just installed Registry mechanic and now I would like to know if all of the errors can be deleted?

If it is allowed on the message board, I can copy the error list if someone once to help me through the first scan so I will make sure I will not delete anything important.

When it finds files from like DVD and Pictures but you still want them on your computer is it ok to delete those, will they still be workable?

thanks so much, I just want to be extra careful with my new computer that I try to take very good care of & once I know that registry mechanic is trustworthy, I will be fine, but right now I am very careful.

    thanks so much!!

You should be OK deleting the keys/entries it suggests.

Registries get amazingly loaded up with old, unused keys and over time your registry gets bloated and fragmented.

It is probably safe to allow it to delete them. If you're still nervous about it, run System Restore>Create Restore Point before you delete the entries. Then you can always revert the system back exactly the way it was if something goes wrong.

    To use Restore, go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore>Create A Restore Point

medium priority - File extension is invalid

High Priority - value is invalid

that is what the mechanic called them for all the errors.

I only once had a problem where I used the free version of windows registry repair and then when i rebooted my HP printer kept telling me it was trying to install so i had to put the disc in and something installed. that has been the only problem I ever had.

But I will probably do the restore and delete them all. the only ones that kinda scare me are the ones that have the internet explorer or windows current version files and all the CLASSES.

    thanks

The system restore is a great safety net. It's saved my bacon more than once

Good luck, janeydoll. Let us know how it works out

  5. NEVER LET IT REMOVE all of the entries found. Be careful with a registry backup + ur invalid shortcuts - all of em will be deleted as it finds em. So if ur some shortcuts disappear later, u must know that.

Ya i know they were all invalid, but it does look like a surprise, when u see some of ur normal shortcuts not in place, after u come back to em after quite some time.

+ just take a quick look at whole of the errors it finds, just to see, if its not takin out somethin it shud not.

N ya let us know if u crashed ur pc or got it smilin later.

I've got Registry Mechanic's settings cranked up to be as aggressive as it can.
I ALWAYS LET IT REMOVE all the entries it identifies and have never had any problems...
Been using it for at least 2 years and running a scan weekly the whole time.

Much as I hate to say anything nice about Microsoft

If your Internet Security Suite is close to running out its subscription, you might check out Microsoft's new One Care; it has Registry maintenance built-in... along with more extras- backup software & such.

Just my .02 but unless you are having problems that are related to registry just leave it alone. In others words if it isn't broke don't fix it.

Having said that have a look at ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/
