What software are you suing ?

Look to your left - see the bit that says Guides ? Plenty of conversion guides there to help you.

Personally, I use a range of software to ensure the best quality transfer I can get. However you strike me as the impatient, give me one button to press type, so I suggest ConvertXtoDVD.

Do not use WinAVI. If you do, I wont help you fix up the mess.

If quality is of any concern, I think you'll be much better off popping your DVDs in your DVD-ROM drive and doing a "proper" DVD Backup, as opposed to a DVD -> AVI -> DVD backup. There's quality AND time savings to be had there
    If in doubt, Google it.

I agree with jim on this one. Rip the DVD again, use DVD Shrink if necessary, and burn to dvdr.

You rip the DVD to your hard drive (DVDDecrypter / Ripit4Me / DVDFab Decrypter), then optionally shrink (DVDShrink) or recode (DVDRB) it, then burn it.
    If in doubt, Google it.

That sounds like a question to ask the MPAA.
