Hello everyone!, I want to ask a question that might sound silly and I am sure it has been asked before, I just bought a sony rdr vx-515, this works great for practical use but I am not to happy about the copyright software that is insalled in the unit, I know that this is common protocal, but I am not out to burn dvds for everyone!, I wanted to just burn items that myself and my kids enjoy, this unit will not let this happen with the copy guard function or copyright protection technology installed by Macrovision, had I have known this I would have never bought this unit, can any one offer any suggestions???, other wise I would like to know what other system I should get while I return this one to the place of purches.

All standalone DVD recorders have this copy protection in place. I doubt you will find one that will allow you to copy commercial discs. If you want to make backups of your collection, you need to use your PC. If you want to copy VHS tapes, a full frame timebase corrector will strip out the MV protection.
