hi people,
i have the Philips DVD-761 player, which is almost the same as the DVD-751 except for the 6-chinch connectors on the rear...
my problem is:
when i play vcd or svcd i cannot FF or REW them, on some discs i can use the resume and jump-to-certain-time functions and on some others i cant.
i have firmware ver 7.03 (will check for exeact number today)
also iŽd like to know what advantages brings an update - iŽve looked through the forum without a satisfying result...
as regarding the p-codes:
iŽve seen some people were given special codes for their problems, but what about a complete list (if thats possible) with the codes and their functions...
thanx in advance to all who read and reply !!!

As you have checked the forum I would suggest you contact user "lapin" via private message. He does seem to know the most about the p-codes etc. Perhaps he has a complete list?
-
i noticed him already, but i thought it would be more useful to question this as a posting - viewable for everyone...
(sooner or later heŽll see this and hopefully answers)

Yes I have, but unfortunately it's a printed list (about 6 pages for different firmware, and I have no time to enter it on this forum (each code has something about 6 particularities and there is 55 codes just for your firmware). But if you told me what you're looking for, i'll give you the p-code you need.
Concerning firmware, I read on this forum that the new version (7.22) corrects the problem of bw and fw, just use the search with : 7.22. -
thanks very much !!
you didnt found that list on the net, or do you ?
iŽll check the forum for the 7.22 issue
btw - i may have overlooked this, but how exactly do you enter a p-code ? -
i checked the forum: found two people for whom the new firmware (7.12 or 7.22) will FF/REW SVCDŽs...
here are my settings:
Philips DVD-761 (pal)
Firmware: 7.03 000320 P55 4.3.13
- can FF/REW some VCDŽs (not all)
- cannot FF/REW SVCDŽs, but jump to a certain time -
Hi,
Philips DVD-761 (pal)
Firmware: 7.03 000320 P55 4.3.13
Your p-code is the correct one, but you should upgrade your firmware (7.12 or better 7.22). You'll find tha adress of the site on this forum (search 7.22).

thanks again, lapin !
i already got the firmware, but iŽll wanted to ask here, before i go on updating
btw - since iŽm from germany, iŽll call the Philips Service Center first, and ask them some questions, too
(Tel.Nr.: 040/28 52 22 22 - for germany!) -
Hi cbx103!
As you noticed lapin is definitly the one to ask
when it comes to p-codes or firmware (he helped
me out too).
I wanted to update my Philips DVD751 to the new firmware
7.22. I downloaded it from the net and also contacted
the Austrian Philips Helpdesk (well, I am from Austria)
which sent me the firmware 7.22 via email.
The one from the net seems to be the same as the one that
was sent to me (2 files, same name, the same bytes per
file).
The helpdesk also said that not every DVD751 would update
without troubles. Well, mine did. I burnt the CD-R like
described on the net, inserted it (as described) everything
worked fine.
Good luck!
