Use PowerDVD or WinDVD and all should be fine.

Remember that some PAL DVD Videos will not be REGION ONE nor REGION FREE but instead will be REGION TWO or whatever.

Since you are in the USA that will be an issue.

Usually I just RIP the DVD to the HDD first. This removes all REGION CODE protection. You can then play it back from the HDD using PowerDVD or WinDVD.

There are other ways of doing it where you don't have to RIP the DVD first but that's how I always do it ... old habit LOL

To beat the region problem forever on your system install DVDRegionFree or DVDIdlePro, otherwise when playing alternatingly DVDs of region2 and region1 most software players will ask you to change region setting of your DVD drive and will do it for you on confirmation. Remember, your drive allows this just 5 times, then it stops forever on the last applied setting.
Always remove region protection at DVD backup as recommended above. This will help with playback on a standalone.
