  1. Hello all,

Quick question...I read a whole bunch of good things about the Vidicraft detailer IV and broke down and bid and won a unit off ebay recently.

I got it today and set out to immediatly test it and am a bit confused and frustrated...Maybe I am not using it correctly.

To set the stage, here is what the back has:

I have composite inputs and outputs for Video 1 thru 4 (along with audio as well) and I also have a seperate video ONLY Input and output for something called "video loop".

Now logic dictated me to connect my video input to one of the 1-4 inputs, and I chose video 1 and connected the video 1 output to my TV...Turned the unit on and selected the video input selecter for input #1 (LED indicator)....And I do not see anything on my screen!

After messing around and trying ALL four inputs one by one (and changing the output to the corresponding output jack and selecting the right input # frm the front panel), I could not get anything...

Then I tried the video input of the "video loop" and now I can see the output coming from any of the video 1-4 outputs and I can see the screen splitter with some results of the video detailing...

Somehow its not a lot of difference and I am not sure if I am using the unit correctly...By that I mean, the detailing I can see on the screen right now seems to be minimal and I can get the same level of detaling control via my AVT 8710 TBC I have (using its sharpness)....

Am I using this correctly or is the unit broken from the get go and I got screwed???

GShelly or other experts - please advise.

    Thanks
    Rajiv

  2. Additionally, will someone please explain to me what does the "video loop" input and output do and what is the function of the video 1 through 4 inputs and outputs...I am confused as to their exact usage and in what combination.

Also, what do the sliders actually do...some are intuitive like v-sharpness and h-sharpness, but some are not that apparent.

    Thanks in advance

    Rajiv

You must use the video loop or you'll not have a video signal through the device. Did you receive a manual with it?

  4. Thanks for the feedback...Luckily GShelley was kind enough to respond back directly with some very key insight....

If you or anyone on this forum has the manual, please get in touch with me offline as I would really appreciate a scan or photocopy of the manual...I bought my item from eBay and so I did not get the manual with it...It also lacked the jumpers to close the video loop- and that is why I was so confused in the first place...

    Thanks
    Rajiv

Rajiv: Scanned the Vidicraft manual. Saved it to .pdf format.

The size is about 4MB - I'll try to email it to you in the next few days. It may or may not go: I've had trouble emailing large files in the past.

If anyone knows of a free file server on the net, let me know: I can upload it so anyone else who needs a manual can download it.

  6. Many many thanks!!!!

May I recommend you try and ZIP up the PDF...many times the zipping helps a bit...

BTW, My yahoo account is a paid one, so you can mail me stuff that is as large as 10 MB's...If not, let me know offline...and I will send you options of how to break it up..

    Thanks so much again!

Zip'ing files: if your email provider has low file size limits, you can use WinRAR instead of PkZip to compress a big file and split it into smaller pieces of any size you specify. Example: a compressed file of 4-MB could be zipped into smaller pieces of 1-MB each. WinRAR also splits into a self-executing zip so that if the user receives all the pieces, has them all in one folder, executing Part1 also expands and joins all the pieces -- so the recipient doesn't need their own copy of WinRAR.

30-day trial of WinRAR is downloadable all over the 'net, just google for WinRAR. Used to be entirely free, but it's so popular now that a trial is all I see available. Mine's an oldie from 2001 but still works. Newer versions are faster (frankly, I can't tell).

Hi, I found this thread while searching for a manual for a Vidicraft Detailer IV which I bought off of ebay a couple of months ago. Does anyone still have this? Please let me know. Thank you very much.

I received the manual for the Vidicraft Detailer IV. Thank you very much.

I will be on a lookout for an EliteVideo BVP-4 manual. I am thinking of purchasing one on ebay and if it comes with a manual, I will send you a copy. Thanks again!

I was watching that item also but hesitated to bid because the item was sold AS-IS and no returns and the listing never said anything about the equipment being tested or that everything is working. I am a little wary about listings such as this one.

Not surprising, as isoldit was just the agent. Personally, I don't warrant any electronics equipment that I sell on ebay: It's just too easy to get burned/hammered etc. on an item. I take the hit on the selling price, and if it messes up after being shipped across the country, it's not my responsibility. I do pack everything carefully, usually a strong box, bubble wrap, and plenty of peanuts - but even that won't prevent damage from being jostled about.

Here's an idea. Try looking for ebay buyers that have recently won a BVP-4 with a manual and ask him or her if you can get a photocopy of the manual. Of course offer some money for it. I tried it myself. I was looking for a manual for my JVC JX-C7 corrector. I tried contacting 2 ebay members. One ignored me and the other one was too greedy to share.. wanted $25 plus s&h for a 10 page manual. It will cost him only $1 to photocopy it. I offered him a very reasonable $10 plus s&h. Anyway, I may not have been successful but there's no harm in trying.
