Hi, i have tried to connect my laptop to my plasma screen via vga output, the picture on the tv is really good, i can see everthing as on the laptop, the problem is when i play a .avi through either media player or winamp the picture inside the two programs shows up as black on the tv even though its playing fine on the laptop, can anyone offer any advice.
Thanks
Peter

Depends on your laptop's graphics chip. Some have driver software that lets you select "theater" mode (e.g., ATI graphics)
Right-Click somewhere on your desktop and choose Properties
You will see a number of tabs (it varies) - choose Settings
Click the Advanced button
Click the ATI Overlay tab
Dismiss the warning message
Check the 'Theater mode' box
Click OK
Click OK
More typically, you can succeed by disabling hardware video overlay:
Right-Click somewhere on your desktop and choose Properties
You will see a number of tabs (it varies) - choose Settings
Click the Advanced button
You will see a number of tabs (sometimes a lot!) - choose Troubleshoot
Drag the horizontal slider to the left until the description reads "Disable all DirectDraw and Direct3D accelerations...."
Click OK
Click OKJohn Miller
