Hi,
I have a home wireless network with a D-Link DI-524 2.4 GHz Wireless Router. I would like to know what I need to stream my MPEG-4/H.264 movie collection from my PC or laptop to my TV and if this is a realistic possibility with 2.4 Ghz. I have looked at a couple of products but none of them spec H.264 only MPEG-4. Also is the playback dependant on the software of the host machine or on the hardware in the wireless receiver at the TV?? Thanks.

Haven't heard of anything like what you've specified.
However, if you expand your options beyond your router, you could get a wireless video transmiter. Simply hook up the transmitter to the tv/video out of your computer and hook up the receiver to your tv. Once you start your video, go to full screen, and viola! ANY video played on your computer is on your tv.
Some options like this would do the trick:

Can't say I've used any of them, but know a couple of people who have them and them seem to be at least content with it.Have a good one,

Thanks!
No shortage of helpful people herejagabo that D-Link Unit is just the ticket!! Nice to be able to browse all media from the good ole Lazy Boy. It comes bundled with Recode (which I already have) so my guess would be that AVC is supported. Gonna shop around some more will post back with results. Thanks again - GMaq

Well...
Picked up a DSM 320 last night at Best Buy, Playback is flawlessly smooth, no hiccups like the iPod does occasionally, setup was quite easy, Couple of "flies in the ointment" though... NO AVC/H.264/AACdrm/MOV SUPPORT and since this is a Canadian unit, the firmware is different and will not update firmware to the latest US firmware.
In playing back a variety of DivX,XVid,3ivX and Nero Digital files I gotta say Nero Digital (standard) @ 1000kbps+ looks really good even on an HDTV. In fact even some of my old xVCD MPEG's don't look half bad compared to MPEG-4. Hopefully AAC/AVC support is forthcoming unless this is some kind of WMP-iTunes pissing contest. -
If you can play MPEG-4/H.264 movie on your PC, a wireless PV to TV converter might be a solution. I myself use FlyImage5000 which works pretty good. You can get it from ebay or pctotvconverter.com
