Hi all is their a dvd recorder with hard drive that i can purchase that will recognize my directv satellite programm guide.. or any recorder for that matter that will.i read some other threads that dvd recorders will not recognize the tv guide is that true?...i want a dvd recorder with HD please & thanks!...

I have Dish satellite service
I have not found any recorder other that the PVR units supplied by Dish or Direct Satellite service, that can be controlled or make use of the TV Guide in them Although some claims have been made to do so I haven’t seen it. Most satellite companies have done their best to insure they wont, I know of No third party Recorders IR Blaster that will or can control a satellite receiver or be controlled by the receivers blaster.
There have been reports that some units can control some cable boxes. And make use of their services. To what extent I don’t know.
There are some units like the LG that say they can make use of the TV Guide provided by Microsoft. I do not know if a PC is involved or to what extent service is provided or its cost.

I gave up some time ago and if you do find a solution , Please Post It

thanks for the response ..i have'nt read any material where this is possible,it's interesting that these cable/satellite companies did not work with the dvd recording industry to have this resolve who knows maybe they did but could not come up with a resonable solution ...propbley have something to do with copy right policy or something else i mean how hard is it to have tv guide programming setup or design in a recorder?....if a cable box can be design to pause "live" tv then certainly a dvd recorder can be design to recognize a "tv guide".....thanks
