I am new to this thing. Have not been able to locate a thread that would talk about the upgrade process. It would be really helpful if someone can please reply with the process of upgrading the firmware and where can I find if Philips has an upgraded firmware for this model?
Looks like during the process of hacking the Player, I ended up corrupting the firmware!!

Krispy Kritter misunderstood your previous post, although it's not your fault. KK thinks you replace your firmware and doesn't realize that all you did was enter some number codes on your remote control to turn off region checking. Whatever happened, you did NOT mess up your firmware! Nor did you violate your warranty. Some Philips models are known to have problems. My guess is that what you did had no effect and just by bad luck you started to have problems after turning off region checking. What can you do? Use the same remote sequence to put the player back in region 1 mode. See if it can play DVDs and VCDs OK now. If not, return the player as defective. If you get another one, hope to get a better one.

I tried turning the region code back to 1. But still, I keep on getting the same problem. None of my previous DVDs (Region 1) or VCDs are now playing.
