  1. I've searched the forums and tool guides, but still can't find a defintive answer to what I need.

I have a number of MPEG2 files I want to burn to DVD using TMPGEnc DVD Author Pro, but the dimensions of the mpegs are 544x576. DVD (PAL) needs to be 704x576 or 720x576 for widescreen, and TDA complains if they are not one of these sizes. These mpegs have been converted from DVB transmissions in the UK.

Can anyone provide advice on converting the dimensions of an MPEG or point me to a tool guide that shows me how (in laymans terms) please?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing they're from More4? You will have to re-encode (Procoder, TMPGEnc) them, i've tried patching them using DVDPatcher but I get a green portion of the screen. Only other option is get a DVD player that plays raw MPEG's.

  3. ITV2 in this case.....

I was hoping to avoid TMPGEnc because it reports a 24 hour processing time for the 2 hour mpeg.

I've tried DVD Patcher (you have to reset the dimensions to 544 once loaded into TDA, by the way ), but TDA then reports it will take >24 hours to encode the DVD!

Use the frameserving method from vdub to tmpgenc .

    Open clip in vdub
    Set audio to full processing
Go to audio conversion , set to 48khz , stereo
    Now save wav

Go back to audio , sellect wav audio , and sellect new extracted wav

    Go to video , filters
    Add resize
In box's , add your actual video clips size
Choose : expand and letter box
Enter 720x576 , click ok , click ok
Your now adding black bar to top and bottom .

Go to file , choose farmeserver

The file id should be ??????.vdr ... tmpgenc requires this extension .

Read the tmpgenc info on frameserving just to double check ... might need you to setup this feature .

Once done , tmpgenc should say all well ... and should fly .

TDA doesn't (can't, in fact) reencode. 24 hrs + is silly (and wrong) for authoring an mpg as DVD. There must be some other problem, unless you're using a P1 100 MHz.
