    HI,

    I flash my dvr-111dusing the dvr-111L v8.26 firmware successfully. Does anyone know how I can get region free for this dvd-writer. I tried to use it to read a dvd dics with dvd9 format from China. Nothing is showed in my computer when I tried to open it in the explorer. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    most china disks dont have any region codes .... china is region 6 anyway

    Are you sure your windows operating system is region free as well? If you used The Dangerous Brothers firmware 111L 8.26 then your drive is region free but your windows operating system needs to be region free as well. Download and install DVD REGION KILLER.

    Also is your 111L drive showing up correctly on your pc?

    From the explorer, the dvd driver showed as "111L", it assume it should be 111L. I probably need to check my windows tonight. Thanks.

    Your windows operating system needs to be region free as well. You'll need to download and install DVD REGION KILLER if you want that dvd disc to be read.

    I tried DVD region killer and other region free software, the software showed that the dvd disc is region free and the dvd writer is region free too. Nero showed that my sony dw-d56a has the lastest firmware PSF3. But the dvd disc still can't be read. The explorer showed nothing in the disc and PowerDVD showed "no DVD disc". I am lost and don't know what I can do. Does DVD region killer disable the region restriction in my windows? Or it just sets region free for the disc? My OS is windows XP home SP2. I really appreciate your input.
