  1. I have a new Miglia MiniHD tv receiver that replaces my DIVCO in the old G4dual

as far as i can tell it records in MPEG-2 and digital dolby.

MPEG streamclip (intel) does not recognize it.

does that mean I have to buy ****for the second time**** apples QT Pro andd mpeg-2 add ons for the QT 7?

I had these for QT6 which I bought and am reluctant to enrich apple any more.

Im studiing the Elgato software now and maybe that will permit editing.

I hope to save the howtoo programs in a smaller qt file: 1gb down to 150mb as Ive been doing in the past with my DIVCO HD and alchemyPVR PCI cards

    cheers

1/ MPEG Streamclip needs the mpeg-2 add on for viewing mpeg-2 video content, but only QuickTime Player benefits from the Pro registration.
2/ QuickTime 6 Pro keys are not valid for QuickTime 7.
3/ The mpeg-2 add on for QuickTime 6.4 (Oct. 2003) works with QuickTime 7 PPC, but is obviously not a Universal Binary. Not sure if the PPC version works on Intels. You will need to install a compatible mpeg-2 add on, to view mpeg-2 video in apps that rely on QuickTime for playback (like MPEG Streamclip).

I dont quite get why there will be more cash going from you to Apple? You're on a G4, so your MPEG2 playback component works with QuickTime 7. You were warned by Apple that upgrading to QuickTime 7 would invalidate your QuickTime 6 Pro key.

As for the cost of upgrading to QuickTime 7 Pro: If you could afford a dual G4, you can give up Starbucks for a week to cover the cost of the QT7Pro key.

They do need (some of) it. Besides their own programmers, they pay license fees to the holders of patents and such. Even if you think that software patents are Evil (tm), these are part of the realm in which Apple operates.

  7. well Im for air use. I define that this way: I paid them for these two programs in QT6.

Id think id get it for a little longer thats all.

QT7 is not like an update from 10.3 to 10.4

    that was what, 69$ academic?

the ElGato software actually may due the editing for me.

it exports to mpeg-4 but I don't seem to see the 3-ivx codec I used to use.

anyway after while Ill probably belly up and give them the $$$$$$$$$.

    cheers and thanks

too bad I can't get the 3ivx into the ElGato.

    Ill email Miglia monday.

    let you know

    cheers
