i will first tell you how i am currently encoding avi's to kvcd and then i would like some opinions or suggestions:
- i use G-Spot to get the video information
- in mainconcept, i change the mpeg type to mpeg1 and audio as layer 2
- i use the advanced button to change the audio bitrate to 128, and to make sure that the video framerates are the same so they dont get out of sync... i also have to lower the video bitrate to get the filesize to around 670MB
after mainconcept finishes, i have to use VCDGEAR to convert mpeg->mpeg and that adds about 20-30 more MB onto the filesize , but so far all is good and done well, but i was wanting to know the PROPER way to encode to KVCD using Mainconcept
i have tried tmpgenc and it works good, but it just takes too long
all replies and suggestions are welcome![]()

I thought KVCD required the use of special matricies for the encoding, along with other secret tools, herbs and spices only available for a fee paid at the KVCD shrine ?
And why bother when you the quality is below what you can achive in the same amount of space using Xvid ? With Divx certified players becoming plentiful, this is a much better option.
As KVCD is not a standard, and is not in spec for DVD, there is no PROPER way to encode it. But honestly, pay your fee at the KVCD web site and I'm sure they have the answers you seek.Read my blog here.
