From time to time, after recording, during replay the recorder auto-reset switching off-on. It's impossible to "cancel section" and copy to copy list to recover the record on DVD. I'm not sure if it depends on HDD or a bug in the firmware or something else. Thanks in advance for helping.

I don't have the 520, but I do have the 640 and have had a 633. Check the disk setup menu. If an option to initialize the HDD is available in the menu, you need to run that to reformat the HDD. (You will lose all HDD recordings.)

If the option to initialize isn't there, try optimizing the HDD and see if that helps.

  3. The "initialize hdd" function only appears and replaces the "optimize hdd" function in setup when the recorder thinks there is a hard drive fault or bad clusters according to Pioneer support for the 531H.

Thank you all. Unfortunately there is no "optimize HDD" option in 520. It happened two times that the recorder autodiagnosed and tried to "repair disk" but "couldn't do it". Anyway I agree with you that some HDD clusters are bad but the OS isn't able to exclude them like in Windows, so the only way is to change the HDD and it's impossible to do at home without professional tools.

  5. It is not that hard. I updated my 531H drive from 80 GB to 500 GB. Here is a link to Hakan's web site.

He can provide everything but a service remote. This entire thread is dedicated to it,
