I'm new to video editing. I demultiplexed a video clip because of bad sound and then downloaded mp3 song and now want to multiplex video stream and mp3. TMPGEnc doesn't do this. Is mp3 compatible with mpeg-2? What software is best for synchronizing, because video and audio are not the same lenght. (I found that SyncView is good for determining difference in ms, but bad because exports audio with corrected lenght to wav).
    Thanks!

Actually, TMPGEnc does do this. You may be using the "simple multiplex" instead of "multiplex" tool, which may explain it. I have done this many times, so I know it does work.

    However, I should ask "WHY"?

While MPEG2 program streams with MPEG2 video+mp3 audio, and MPEG1 system streams with MPEG1 video+mp3 audio are both valid in the general MPEG sense, they aren't allowed for any of the popular consumer formats--VCD, SVCD, DVD. If all you want to do is watch on computer, fine. But if you want to use in consumer player, you'll need to convert to the appropriate format first (mp2 for (S)VCD, ac3/mp2/pcm for DVD).

Now, if you can't play this in Windows Media player, it could be that it's configured wrong. You can either change the codecs/configuration (blah) or use a better player (VLC, MPC, etc). They should have no trouble with this.

Thanks. I finally have identified this bug! :P

The temporary fix is to CLOSE the video file before using the Wav Export tool. When there is a video program loaded, SyncView is incorrectly using the video length to control the new Wav.
