I all,
I use Premiere Pro 2 to capture a vhs tape, I set it up by the usual red/yellow/white lead running from the VHS Recorder into my Sony DCR PC109E, then via USB.
I am capturing a VHS tape, and when you look at the capture screen it plays perfect. however when it is finished and you play it back through premiere pro timeline, the audio is out od sync by about 20 frames. I have checked for drppped frames and gone through all the preferences but still cannot find what is causing it.
I then phoned adobe who told me to buy a video capture card called AJA XENA. But why should i buy this when mainly it is for HD, My project is via VHS. Plus the price of the card as well.
Any ideas please
Thankyou all.
God bless the 2749 people that died 5years Ago.

there are several models of AJA XENA, non really all that cheap ... but they are good -- but total overkill in your case ..
the out of sync audio may be in your computer - and not in the finished product played outside your computer - you should check that first
i also suggest to capture using firewire instead of usb"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
You are using a MiniDV camcorder. If that model has "analog pass through" it should be used with IEEE-1394 and DV project settings in Premiere.
USB won't get you a quality video input. It will be CIF 352x288 MPeg at very low bitrates intended for web streaming.
Also, your 2,5 P4 is weak for running Premiere Pro 2 especilly in MPeg import mode. -
I would suggest a Canopus ADVC100 digital converter, not expensive, it frees the PC CPU from overloading and it effectively locks the audio preventing the A/V out of synch. I had the DCR-TRV950 which has a built in analog to digital (Firewire) pass through but for long captures it also produced A/V Synch issues.
