  1. This is all we need. They start advertising all these technical specs like diameter of laser diode used, etc. Grandma and Grandpa will get confused. People are already confused about Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD. In the stores I've seen numerous people ask, what is Blu-Ray? Why is there two formats? Then they walk away and buy DVD's.

I'm not impressed with technical specs. Nor am I going to decide on Blu-Ray of HD-DVD. One is going to have to go, or maybe HVD will replace them both.

Yep I'm not jumping until I finally buy a hdtv set. Even then I'll probably just get an upconverting dvd player and wait out the format war......

Frankly, I am quite happy with my 50" Sony HD LCD RPTV, OPPO and LG upconverting DVD players. They look and sound great. I don't think the difference is so great that I will even consider spending $1000 on an HD or BD player, plus start replacing my video collection on movies that are 2x the price. Even my burned back-ups look excellent on the under $200 upconverting players.
