when I create a menu with DVDLab and set up my buttons in the order I want them to be navagated thru, they jump out of sequence when played on table top players. The biggest problems seems to be, when you go to a scenes menu, clip number 2 is automatically highlighed not clip number one?
I also have one that has a "play all" button and then some chapters listed on the same menu. When this menu comes up the "Play All" is auto selected, which is what I want, but when you move thru the rest of the menu, the highlight jumps to button 4 insted of 2 and you have to navagate back up at which time it goes from button 4 to 3 then 3 to 1 and skips 2 but will then go downward from 1 to 2 and work correctly from that point thru the rest of that menu. Other menus on the same dvd set up the same way in DVDLab work correctly? Any clues as to what is going on?
All the chapter buttons works by the way when you finally get it highlighted and pressit, it does go the where it is supposed to go.

Two suggestions:
1- Did you try a simulation inside DVD-Lab? It pops up a small window with 4 cursor buttons and an enter key for you to try your menus (look in the documentation or the help)
2- The documentation or help covers how to make the navigation behave the way you want. If you only add your buttons in the order you want and hope for proper behaviour, you are not doing it right. Each button has 4 different behaviours to consider depending on which arrow button you press on the remote. You can actually make some menus whose behaviour is not obvious at all (like 12 buttons arranged in a circle, like a clock). -
Thanks. No I did not try the simulation, I "assumed" that when the button where labled in 1,2,3 order that, that is how they should work. I guess I just reaffirmed what happens when I "assume". I will look at that tonight.

Check out the help file for Force Button Select. It should fix your problem with moving from menu to menu. As for button to button movement, use the Show Navigation Links button on the tool bar to see what is linked to what. Turn of auto-route and link them manually to get them to flow correctly.

Ok here's the update and what I had to do to fix it. I looked in the help file and found nothing different from what I was doing to link my buttons. So I started from scratch and when I went to simulate the menu the same thing happened on my first menu, my first button came up highlighted but when navigating, it would skip the second and jump to the third. I am using words as button and had them lined up so the first letter was in line,
ex:
Attention Stance
Bow
Gaurding Stance
What I had to do was reposition my second chapter word to center between the first and third.
ex:
Attention Stance
_____Bow
Gaurding Stance
without the line, I had to put that in to move the word to center, when space bar was used for this post it lined it up to the left like above.
It's like the word was so much shorter in letters from 1 and 3 that it couldn't find the button? However, that did fix it.
Thanks for pointing out the simulator. -
Amazingly, the order (visual) order that the items appear may not be neccessarily the order that the items within a menu will navigate. TO FIX: Turn off Auto-Route (on top of menu), then click the button to the left of it (the on with the four-arrows) to show current navigation links. Now everything should become obvious.
To change the default highlighted item, Menu's Right pane, PBC TAB, Hi-Lite Default Btn.
