Hi guys I have some problem I need some advice on. I have several videos which plays with perfect AR on PC but need to know if my dvd/divx player whcih is based on ESS chipset looks at something in particular. The reason I ask is because most videos play fine on my player but some of the files the AR changes. My question, is there something in Avi files like"Xvid0043" I can change in Mpeg4 modifier to make it show correctly, or should throw out the player and buy another. The reason I am waiting to buy a new one is so that I can buy an all in one.
Requirements
Dvd recorder with time slip
Built in Digital Tv tuner/ If twin tuner then perfect to capture 2 shows at the same time
Hard disk
Must be albe to play Mpeg 4
Epg
Should have all video and audio connections
I have seen one here whcih is called DGTEC I think whcih has it all as far as I can remember
dont know how it is quality wise. Some advise is appreaciated here either way
I live in Austalia which makes things difficult to get hold of since evrything comes here last.
I have a xbox modified which is a good player but the remote is so lean you have to battle with the buttons through the menu to change AR when it is stuffed and by then some of the movie is missed. I dont know how to explain. I had brought this Teac digital sd tv tuner. Love it since it has a dedicated button to change AR and subs as well. I wish the Xbox remote was this well laid out
I would really eppreaciate some advise on I know whcih is not one problem but a weird combination of all my problems. I am so confused of all of this, I am actually thinking of using another spare Pc I have which is not shabby at all. P4 2.4 Ghz 1GB Rdram 120 GB Hard disk
Compro Tv tuner. I was thing of buying a horizontal case for this and laying it down in there and then buying netgear homeplus since I dont have a wireless router. This would ensure all playabilty and connectivity, but the thought of what a PC can do. I would like to know if a simple MCE remote could control all aspects of this PC. I dont have this remote but what I think it would need is a kind of joystick with button. For example when I watch movies on PC I use wmp 6.4 in which you can adjust AR via numbers keys on the keyboard. How is this issue handled by the remote. ?
thanks

ESS players don't respect PAR info, so there is nothing you can do about the AR. They also as I understand it distort the image on WS TV's.
XBMC is mplayer based so it should respect PAR info, no need to manually resize if the file is encoded/set properly.
Don't know about everything coming here last either. The Z500 was available in Australia before anywhere else. I'm sure you could get a VE Commodore here before anywhere else to.
Not sure if there are any recorders with decent MPEG-4 playback since none of the better chips (MTK, Zoran, Sigma) support recording. Probably better to buy say an LG player and a seperate recorder. -
