  1. Having had some problems with my JVC camcorder recently I'm looking into a new camera. I'm leaning toward the Canon or Sony lines. So what's the best MiniDV cam for around $300. I realize that's not a huge budget and I'm not expecting anything different than my JVC. I only use it for home movies of my family, so I don't need an XL-2, though I'd REALLY like one. I just don't want anything worse than what I have.

Check with www.camcorderinfo.com for reviews. I believe the best camcorder currently in that price range is the Canon Elura 100.

  3. The Elura 100 looks like a great buy for the price. It has a mic input, but I don't see any accessory shoe or any way to put a mic on it. Does anyone know if a kit exists to make a mount for an external mic and what mic might go well with this?
