DVD to MPEG TO MP4 .. I have a problem!

Greetings!

Well .. my first attempt at this was somewhat successful. I got the movie out of it but it was in french! Not what I really wanted!

How in the world would i go about taking a movie off of DVD and converting it to MP4 so I can throw it on my iPod?

Are you sure you searched in the guides and tools sections already?

Use the same method, but choose the right language.
Or use DVD Shrink to process the DVD in re-author mode to get just the video and audio you need, then convert using your almost successful method.

Yes I search .. but what I was coming up with made no sense!

Shrink in re-author mode? Hmmmmm .. I'll have to take a look at that.

I'm still waiting to see if somebody has a neat solution!

You might try SUPER for the conversion. You could extract the DVD to one large VOB with DVD Decrypter or one large MPEG with VOB2MPEG. SUPER can convert VOBs directly, or the MPEGs from them. SUPER does mention encoding for ipods. You just have to figure out how to get the right audio track.

You are asking for a neat solution, however you haven't actually given us a problem. What method did you use the first time that gave you the right video quality, but wrong language ? tell us how you did it, we might be able to tell you how it when wrong.

Otherwise, all you will get are the suggestions you have been getting, and don't seem happy with.
