i have a hauppage usb2 card & have tried capturing mpeg2 video or using a 7800 nivedia card to capture avi. when i tried to capture full size it really looked pixilated & also stuttered. so i tried half d. better results but the usb2 at times the picture suddenly brightened up but during another test during the same scene didn't (diff biterate). better results also for half d with avi capture . after encode (9mb/sec & 15mb/sec biterate) a big problem is that as the camera pans to another performer it gets blurry(interlace showing?). it didn't do that with usb2. but i saw no sudden bright scenes with que enc encode. could the blurring be due to a setting i'm using or not using in que enc? i'm not sure the overall results are better for one than the other but each has issues. also if i try lower audio settings(compress) than 48000 & 384 rate i have audio breakup for both
