  1. Hi,

    Has anyone tried these DVD's?

    http://www.mediasupply.com/tayuwa16xdv5.html

If you look at this diagram:
    http://services.mediasupply.com/images/printareatywatershield.gif

Do the DVD's still look good, even with the white bands around the disc which can't be printed on?

Also, it says the print should be 25 / 116.5, but I can't seem to have the .5 in epson print CD program, how do I fix this?

    Cheers in advance

I bought 50 of them a while back for my epson R1800. Not really that impressed. They streak easy, if printer has ANY dust on them it can mess up the print; look OK but I am not sure if it is worth it to print...and they surface scratch where you print.

Also, they are not 100% waterprooof. I left some in the sink for 1.5 days and they will smear. Best thing is to spray with a laquer spray

They're designed to be water resistant, not waterproof. They're supposed to guard against having something spilled on them, not soaking for extended periods. I haven't tried them myself, but I think you've described unreasonable expectations.

Do you have any new pics of your tests, ultraman? I didn't notice the border you mentioned in your original thread.

Does this mean that Primera is not the only media maker that has the aquashield/watershield technology now? The Primera brand's Aquashield is 8X with matte finish, but the Watersheild is 16X and with a glossy finish... Are the TY's the same?

  7. spiffy i didnt take pictures of the glossy ones but they work the same way.
    Primeras are
Matte, 8x, full bleed, media code was Fuji
    TY Watershield are
glossy, 16x, outside white border about 1mm, and they are TY

Primera arent the only ones with water resistent dvds. supermediastore sells some waterproof dvds called Optical Quantum but in dont know about them and am not willing to risk just to try them

I wonder if the Primera's Watershield is full bleed or white border -- I'd much prefer TY, but the white border concerns me. 1mm is quite noticeable -- I really want the glossy though.

Looks like there are two different types of Optical Quantum -- TTH01 and TYG03. The latter is probably TY, and the former might be TDK; but for some reason they have two different product numbers for the TDK version.

  9. Spiffy the Primera Aquaguards waterproof dvds do print full bleed. Thats what i was using before the TY came out with the glossy. I prefer to have full bleed but i got use to the border on them(TY) Ive been painting but if i get a chance ill scan some of my disk so you can see the border and the full bleed
