Are the video and audio DVD compliant? If so, you only need to author them. TMPGEnc DVD Author or the freeware DVDAuthorgui should work. You can drop them into Gspot 2.52 and compare what you see there to the DVD specifications in 'What is' DVD to the upper left. <<<<<<
You may have an amount of audio delay in the audio files that DVDSanta couldn't see.
If they need to re-encoded, you might try XvidToDVD for an easy freeware conversion. The newer ConvertXToDVD is more versatile, though. -
I know that this is a common problem. (the trailing of the video agains the audio.) I read about it all the time in the forums.
I have a dumb suggestion, but it worked for me.
Just introduce DivX into the recording somewhere, it doesn't seem to matter where.
There are apparently two different kinds of errant behavior. . .sync not good, but constant, or, sync starting good but by the end of even a half hour, they are hoplessly worlds apart. I have had the latter problem, but I found, by checking the file at various points in the chain (ie after capture, after editing, after transcoding, and then buring. The little devil would always show up during the encoding (or transcoding. . .whichever.) but I found, again in my case, that DivX during one of those processes (even just a little) would somehow hold thing together.
I am a color timer by trade (that's the guy who gets credit at the flicks at the honored spot next to the guy who writes the titles). I see hundreds of video clips during the day and if the a\v gets out of wack it drives me crazy. . .like a flickering flourescent light.
Such is life.

The two main types of sync problems are first that the video and audio sync is offset by the same error throughout the video and the second type is when it gradually gets worse as the video plays.
The first is usually fixed by applying a offset or delay to the audio to correct the sync error. The second type is usually caused by the lengths of the audio and video being different. Then you have to adjust one or the other.
This is more common with AVI to MPEG conversion. VBR audio can be a cause if not handled properly when encoding.
The worst is when you have a combination of both problems. Very hard to fix. -
I tried convertx to dvd and u were right it was the second you metioned. The video and auio would be on point but like right in the middle of the movie the auido is off for like 2 secs do I yhave to pysically fix the problem myself like matching up the audio and video (I'm worried about this because I have tons of movies that I have to backup but I fear I'm going to have the same problem on all of them). So I'm still in the drak but at least I kno what the prob is thanx to yo, but I still need a little info sry
Thanx again

What you describe sounds like missing frames in the video or a piece of the audio track missing or just a bad join of two original parts. When it happens in the middle of a video, you would likely have to cut the video up and fix each part independently, then rejoin them. This is not so easy to do right.
What ever the cause, you need to avoid it in the future. -
Thanks a lot man I'm currently looking at this guide on how to sync audio of mpeg files on this site it looks somewhat easy so I'll try that and check back later

I found something out I open the movie files into Virturl Dub and what happened was it gave me a error message saying that there is a improper VBR in the source file the audio encoding will skew 3975 ms from video then it said more stuff ill put in reply later can anyone help?

I thought your format you were converting from was MPEG?
If it's AVI, then that's a common problem with MP3 VBR audio. Save it out as a WAV with full audio processing and either use it that way when you encode, or mux it back with the video or (My choice), convert the WAV to AC3 with ffmpeggui and use that as your audio source when authoring to DVD. Guide here for saving as WAV:

MP3 VBR audio causes all kinds of sync problems and most encoders have a hard time accepting it without errors. -
Yea I thought it was avi my fault I' m sry thanks a lot buddy your tons of help Ill check back if it still isn't working thanks again

I tried the guide you gave to me and what you said for some odd reason it is still was off. I was wondering if I ws some how use a program to find out how off it is and input that in to a encoding porgram because when I play the actual movie itself it all is in sync with the auido and video. It;s just when I start encoding is where it messes up.
Thanks Again Cheers -
I found this gude

Ok I read this whole guide and I'm getting a little frustrated. I tried everything to fix this problem and it is still way out of sync. I had a little trouble understanding that guide does anyone know a easier way and a way that actually works please.
