Hey guys. A few months ago, I had to take a hiatus on my VHS conversion project. It's been about 3-4 months since I even looked at my equipment. Last night, I decided to start things up again.
My chain is:
HR-S9500U -> BVP-4 -> RD-XS34 -> Sony Trinitron TV
When playing tapes in my VCR, there is no sound coming through my TV speakers. This happens whether or not I am recording. I can see the picture, yet no sound. However, when I use the Toshiba to play back clips that I recorded onto it, the sound comes through just fine. It's been a while since I've used the Toshiba, but I don't remember this being an issue before. Is there some setting I am missing?

Hmm, actually I don't recall. I am using the inputs on the back of the unit, but I belive there are front inputs also. I will try them when I get off work and get back to ya.

While you're at it, you might try connecting the A/V from the VCR directly to the TV to isolate the problem as the VCR or the DVD Recorder (or the cable).

Check cables & Connection. then if that doesn't work, unloose the chain and one by one check sound from tv. It maybe be a wrong hook up somewhere....................

All right, gonna check all that. Seems like the connections were fine since it's recording to the dvd recorder and playing back ok, but I'll check everything again just to be sure. *shrugs*
